The goal of the Yorktown Depot Restoration Project is to restore and preserve the Yorktown Heights Railroad Depot and ensure public access to a landmark structure that identifies the Town's past.

Historic Preservation is important because it:

• Helps safeguard Yorktown's history and heritage for future generations.



• Raises the community's awareness and pride in its past. It is this "sense of place" that encourages people to put down roots in a community.



• Enhances the visual and aesthetic character, diversity, and distinctiveness of Yorktown.



• Will help avoid deterioration or demolition of historically or architecturally important properties.
